Three Phase Evaluation Process

Starting the psychological evaluation are a brand new experience. Having an understanding of what to expect is helpful for everyone, children and adults alike.

1. Intake

Once it is determined that Evergreen is a good fit, we schedule a telehealth intake with one of our clinical psychologists. Intakes are typically with a parent, guardian, or self-referring young adult. Adolescent clients who wish to join the intake are welcome to do so.

The intake is comprehensive and meant to build a deep understanding of the person being evaluated. We gather developmental and medical history, current concerns, daily functioning, sensory and communication preferences, educational or occupational context, and prior evaluation or treatment information.

At the end of the intake, a clear plan for the evaluation will be outlined by the psychologist, including an anticipated timeline and next steps.

2. Testing

The formal testing component combines standardized rating forms to be completed at home and by teachers with in-person psychological assessments  administered to the client.

Testing typically occurs over one or two in-person appointments at the Evergreen offices. Length of appointments vary depending on client needs and the psychologist's testing plan.

We evaluate the client's cognitive profile, executive functioning, social communication skills, and emotional and behavioral functioning in order to form a comprehensive, strengths-based clinical picture.

3. Feedback and Final Report

After all the data is collected from testing appointments and rating forms, feedback can be scheduled. Feedback is typically with the adult client or the parent/caregivers of clients under the age of 18. , For adolescents, being part of the feedback process can be beneficial.

Feedback about test results includes diagnoses (if any) as well as an outline of actionable recommendations. The feedback appointment also allows families time to process this information and ask questions.

Following the feedback session, a completed evaluation report will be provided electronically within 2 weeks time to ensure families are able to connect with the necessary supports as soon as possible.
